Hey friends,
Greetings from sunny California…actually today is cloudy...weird. I’m in town visiting my brother and I figured I’d try and write a few songs while I’m here. I wrote a fun song with my friend Bleu Macauley on Monday (not sure what it will be called) and two more songs “Go” and “Learn to Live Again” on Tuesday and Wednesday with two great artists, Trent Dabbs and Dave Lichens. It’s totally a stress free environment and I am excited to say what’s coming out are some of my best ideas. I invited over my Oklahoma pal Christopher Wray and good friend Tommy Walter (songwriter/ producer/ Late night TV rock star extraordiaire) to Garrett’s place late Tuesday night. By 1AM we had finished a real ‘Oklahoma Shuffle’ type song. I figured why not try something I’ve never done before and the song turned out great! It’s called ‘If You’re Leavin” and I will try and post a little demo for you all to hear soon!
Yesterday started at 8AM because I’m driving Garrett’s car around town while he’s at work. It reminds me of when he and I would have breakfast before high school and listen to music on the way….isn’t that sweet?! Last night I met up with Ryan (from the GCB) and we had some drinks. It had been way too long so we caught up on old stories and had many laugh attacks. He’s doing great writing/ producing great music here in LA. Anyway, I’m working on a song today with Dave Bassett I’m really excited about called “The Story of Me and You.” I head home tomorrow and to my count, I’e written a half dozen songs this week….and not one is about a break up!
I ‘m so lucky to do what I do and call it a job. My fans’ support has put me in a great head space that’s really coming through in these songs. Can’t wait for you to hear ‘em and talk soon.
